Cherry Blossom Festival

WEEKEND GETAWAY TO WASHINGTON, D.C.
Thursday, April 8th - Sunday April11th


Includes:  Three nights' accommodations with breakfast daily at The Doubletree on the outskirts of D.C.; Grand Stand reserved seating for the National Cherry Blossom Parade; Washington Monument timed ticket; and Washington DC 3 Day Power Pass to over 20 attractions listed below.  A letter is being sent to my Senator to request a tour of the White House and Capitol (NO AIR IS INCLUDED- Reagan Airport DAC is the closest with a free shuttle to our hotel)

All payments are non-refundable and can be done all at once via our website or in installments if done via email (by members whose credit cards are on file with US) or via phone by members or non-members.  The installments are due as follows:  1/2 with booking by March 1st; and ½ by April 1st .

Washington, D.C. has come to symbolize the natural beauty of our nation's capital city. The famous trees, a gift from Japan in 1912, signal Washington's rite of spring with an explosion of life and color that surrounds the Tidal Basin in a sea of pale pink and white blossoms. We'll be among thousands of city residents and visitors from across the nation and around the world who come  to witness the spectacle, hoping that the trees will  be at the peak of bloom for the Cherry Blossom Festival.

We'll be staying at the Doubletree on the outskirts of the city near the transit system.  The plans are for a mid morning arrival with luncheon reservations.  After check-in we'll take the Duck Tour (land & sea) of the city, which is included in our Power Pass..  On Friday we'll have the entire day to explore the museums, monuments, the Capitol, etc.  There is so much to see and do and many of the attractions and points of interest are free.  On Saturday at 10:00 am we'll enjoy the National Cherry Blossom Parade from the best vantage point, Grand Stand reserved seats, followed by the Japanese Festival.  The remainder of the day is unplanned so again you can visit the places that peek your interest.  Dinner reservations will be made for the group.  I am planning on an early evening flight back to Atlanta on Sunday to maximize the time there.
